For the love of February

Already we are in our second month of the year.  Wasn’t it just New Year’s?  February, in technical terms, is:

“…the second month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. ... The month has 28 days in common years or 29 days in leap years, with the quadrennial 29th day being called the "leap day." February is the third month of meteorological winter in the Northern Hemisphere.”

Snooze. 😊  It’s the last hurrah of winter, and in my neck of the woods can be extremely mild or inexplicably temperamental in terms of weather, with almost spring-like being the mood of the moment!  It’s the time of year when we finally feel like we’re coming out of hibernation, just like Punxsutawney Phil—the official Groundhog of the United States, who we celebrate every year on February 2nd!  This year, he saw his shadow which legend has it means 6 more weeks of winter.  If it’s winter like we’ve been having, I’m good with it!

UPDATE: So, I started writing this 10 days ago.  Since then, I’ve spent a week pretty much sick and useless, and we’ve had snow and cold—so much for a mild finish to winter. Then I spent a week playing catch-up. If you read my blog in January, I’ve decided for 2018 to embrace the word “change.”  I guess I’m being tested on that!  I had planned to write a blog twice a month; February will most likely just get one post.  I had hoped to write about love (Valentine’s Day), Mardi Gras, and President’sDay, with other great, fun things thrown in.  Now, I’m just hoping to get this published!  LOL

But, along with change and accepting change goes the word adapting.  I am taking a course to be a certified Virtual Author’s Assistant.  I’ve been working at it, off and on, for the better part of a year (alright…. Over a year!).  But, one thing my wonderful trainers, Janica Smith and MichelleMack, have instilled in me – especially these past few months – is to REVIEW AND REVISE.  Because, life happens. As much as we’d like our perfect plans to be executed as laid out, rarely does it happen.  Therefore, I’m being gentle with myself, REVIEWING AND REVISING, and moving onward!  Loving myself and giving myself grace... my clients have been extremely gracious with me; why not me with me?

On to Valentine’s Day, which as of the day of my writing this, was yesterday:  mine was wonderful!  I’m not a materialistic person; my love language isn’t gifts, it’s acts of service.  But I have learned in my wild and wonderful life, that I can never say never.  Because I know my amazing husband, Randy, loves me, his gifts to me come from a place of love, making them acts of service, to me. And, I must say that I love all the chocolates he gives me.  Can you spot the 3 different kinds in this photo?  😊   (the M&Ms are his, not mine so they don’t count!)

I hope the rest of your February is filled with love, grace, acceptance and joy!  March looks to be a fabulously busy and exciting month (look for pictures of my adorable grandchildren, who are coming to visit!), and 2018 continues to be a year of change and growth.

Have you had to review and revise anything lately?  Were you gracious with yourself?  Let me know how you’re doing with it!

Grace and love,
